Friday's Games

Philadelphia 6, Colorado 0

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Roy Halladay cruised through eight innings, Raul Ibanez drove in three runs with three hits and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Colorado Rockies 6-0 last night.
Halladay (11-8) allowed five hits and a walk while striking out nine on a 92-degree evening at Citizens Bank Park. The right-hander threw 116 pitches in his first win since July 5 against Atlanta.

UNDATED (AP) - The Phillies won't be getting any pitching help from Pedro Martinez. His agent tells ESPNDeportes.com the pitcher will sit out this season, although he's not made a decision about retiring. Agent Fern Cuza says Martinez hasn't thrown at all this year. Martinez plans to spend more time with his family in the Dominican Republic.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer says he owes it to himself to try everything to return to the pitching mound this season. The 47-year-old lefty is faced with the possibility of a career-ending elbow injury. He is headed for the disabled list - likely on Saturday - and is in having tests to determine the severity of the injury.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Greg Gross has returned as hitting coach for the Phillies. He replaced Milt Thompson, who was fired after the Phillies completed a 2-6 road trip. Gross was the hitting coach under former manager Larry Bowa. Philadelphia ranks 12th in the National League in hitting and on-base percentage this season.

San Diego 5, Pittsburgh 3

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Aaron Cunningham's triple started San Diego on a four-run second inning and the Padres took advantage of an early lead and their strong bullpen to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 last night. Kevin Correia (7-6) gave up three runs, two earned, over six innings to win his second in a row after going winless in seven starts. He also contributed a run-scoring single as the Padres jumped out to their 4-0 lead against Paul Maholm (6-8), ending the left-hander's streak of 16 consecutive scoreless innings.
