WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Thursday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Roy Halladay threw a six-hitter and top
prospect Domonic Brown had two hits and two RBIs in his major
league debut to lead the streaking Phillies to a 7-1 victory over
the slumping Arizona Diamondbacks last night. Jayson Werth and
Carlos Ruiz both went 3 for 4 for the Phillies, who have won seven
straight overall and 10 in a row at home.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Phillies have placed center fielder
Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list and called up
outfielder Domonic Brown from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Victorino has
an abdominal strain on his left side. He was injured diving back to
first base during a pickoff attempt in Tuesday night's win over
Arizona.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel is
targeting this weekend for shortstop Jimmy Rollins' possible return
to the lineup. Rollins has missed the last two games after bruising
his left foot on Monday.

DENVER (AP) - Garrett Jones homered twice and the Pirates beat
Colorado 6-2 last night to hand the Rockies' their eighth straight
loss. The Pirates are 13-38 on the road. They had not won
consecutive road games since mid-May at Chicago. Jones drove in
three runs with his third career two-homer game and second this
season.

DENVER (AP) - Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf left the game in
the first inning last night after being hit in the face by a line
drive hit by Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki. Ohlendorf gave up three
hard-hit balls to start the game. Seth Smith led off with a single
to right but was doubled off first when Jonathan Herrera lined out
to second.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Steelers have agreed to a contract with
linebacker Jason Worilds. The Virginia Tech product was their
second-round pick in this year's NFL draft. The Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette reports the Steelers are racing to keep their
five-year streak of no rookie holdouts intact.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers director of football operations Kevin
Colbert has signed a five-year contract extension, one week after
the team re-signed coach Mike Tomlin through the 2012 season.
Colbert also serves as the Steelers' general manager but without
the title. He oversaw the teams that won the Super Bowl during the
2005 and 2008 seasons.

GRANTVILLE, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania horse trainer is accused
of trying to rig races at Penn National Race Track by injecting
horses with performance-enhancing drugs. State Police have arrested

also charged with reselling horses he promised would be retired to
a petting zoo.
