WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Monday

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Alex Kovalev and James Neal scored in the
shootout, Marc-Andre Fleury had 37 saves and the Penguins set an
NHL record by winning via shootout for the fourth consecutive game,
beating the Panthers 2-1 yesterday. Ben Lovejoy scored in
regulation to help the Penguins move within two points of
Philadelphia in the race for the Atlantic Division and Eastern
Conference leads.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Brad Marchand scored a power-play goal with
3:43 left in regulation to lift the Boston Bruins to a 2-1 victory
over the Flyers last night. The Eastern Conference-leading Flyers
had been unbeaten in regulation in their previous nine games. They
are two points ahead of Washington and Pittsburgh for the top spot.
Kris Versteeg scored for Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Marcus Thornton scored 32 points and former
Philadelphia center Samuel Dalembert made two free throws in the
closing seconds of overtime to give the Kings a 114-111 win over
the 76ers yesterday. The Sixers were led by Jrue Holiday's 28
points and Jodie Meeks added 22. Philadelphia missed a chance
against one of the NBA's worst teams to make up ground on
fifth-place Atlanta.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - Roy Halladay tuned up for his start on
opening day with three scoreless innings and had a two-run single
as the Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves 6-1 on Sunday. The NL Cy
Young Award winner will face the Houston Astros on Friday in
Philadelphia. Raul Ibanz and Ryan Howard homered for the Phillies.

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) - Josh Rodriguez scored on a throwing error
in the bottom of the ninth yesterday, giving the Pirates a 5-4
victory over the Rays. Paul Maholm yielded three runs and five hits
in five innings. The left-hander walked one and struck out five.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Maya Moore had 23 points and 14 rebounds to
help Connecticut rally from a seven-point second half deficit and
beat Georgetown 68-63 yesterday in the regional semifinals in
Philadelphia. The Hoyas showed no fear of the top seed from the
start, giving the Huskies all they could handle.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Karima Christmas had 23 points and nine
rebounds, Jasmine Thomas scored 19 points and Duke beat DePaul
70-63 yesterday to reach the regional final for the second straight
year. The Blue Devils will play top-seeded Connecticut tomorrow
night with the Final Four at stake. The Huskies thumped Duke 81-57
back in January.
