WPPA / T-102 SPORTS / Tuesday

CHICAGO (AP) - The 76ers built a 23-point lead and held to shock
the Bulls 97-85 last night, ending Chicago's 14-game home winning
streak. Andre Iguodala added 19 points and seven assists for the
76ers, who lost at the United Center by 45 points in December.
Philly had six players in double figures.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Penguins have signed forward Paul Thompson
to a two-year, entry level contract. Thompson, the 2010-11 Hockey
East Player of the Year while at New Hampshire, led the league with
52 points this season. He scored 28 goals, and led the Wildcats to
the NCAA Regional Finals.

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) - The Pirates have shipped infielder Josh
Fields to the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named later or
cash. Fields, a 2004 first-round pick by the Chicago White Sox, was
signed as a minor-league free agent. But the Pirates reassigned him
to minor league camp last week.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - The Pirates have wrapped up spring
training play in Florida with a 4-3 loss to the Twins. Steven
Pearce had a hit and an RBI and Jose Tabata added a hit with a run
scored for the Pirates. The Bucs head north to take on the Phillies
in an exhibition matchup in Philadelphia today.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Ben Francisco hit a three-run homer to
help the Phillies beat the Astros 7-6 before boarding a plane to
Philadelphia yesterday. The Phillies gave most of their regulars
the day off against the team they will face on opening day April
1st.

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Philadelphia Eagles tackle Jason Peters
is free on $628 bond after being arrested in Shreveport, Louisiana,
for violating the city's loud music ordinance and resisting arrest.
Police spokesman Bill Goodin says Peters refused to show his
driver's license after police stopped him Saturday night because of
the volume of music coming from his vehicle.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A co-defendant in the Michael Vick
dogfighting case has been returned to prison for 11 months for
violating his probation. Quanis Phillips declined to speak Monday
before a federal judge in Richmond sentenced him. Phillips admitted
lying to his probation officer when he denied contacting Vick
during the Eagles quarterback's birthday party in Virginia Beach
last summer.
