CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - The Phillies' Brad Lidge says sooner or later, he will blow a save -- even though he didn't all last season. Lidge says it will be a successful year as long as he does
everything he did last year to help the team win.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - The man who inspired Santonio Holmes' Super Bowl touchdown celebration was downright disgusted by the NFL's decision to fine the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver. Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James called the decision to fine Holmes $10,000 "disgusting."

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed has pleaded guilty to disorderly contest and criminal mischief after police say he broke a towel dispenser in a convenience store. Reed pleaded guilty to the two summary offenses and will be fined $543.50.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The University of Pittsburgh has disciplined 24 students for vandalism and other acts after the Pittsburgh Steelers' Super Bowl Feb. 1. The university says it has tallied
nearly $48,000 in property damage.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Alex Barnett scored 20 points and David Rufful added 11 as Dartmouth defeated Penn 69-59. Zack Rosen had 15 points and Jack Eggleston 10 for the Quakers. Penn's four-game homestand continues against Harvard on Saturday night.

Mt Carmel Hires Chesney as Head Coach

A veteran high school football coach has a new job today…head coach of the Mt Carmel Red Tornadoes. Bob Chesney, who’s coaching resume spans more than two decades, has been named to replace Mike Brennan, who resigned in January to take over the football program at Blue Mountain. Chesney served as an assistant to Brennan for the past two seasons. He was also head coach at Shamokin, Lourdes Regional and North Schuylkill, and has collegiate coaching experience as well. He was appointed by the Mount Carmel school board last night.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Phillies have a legitimate chance to be the first repeat World Series champions since the New York Yankees won three in a row from 1998 to 2000. Only two players aren't back from the 25-man postseason roster: Pat Burrell and So Taguchi.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - If there was anything that could go wrong on the Pirates' pitching staff last season, it generally did. The Pirates' pitchers and catchers are reporting for spring training in Bradenton, Fla., with a new pitching coach.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Dionte Christmas scored 19 points and Temple held off a late run by Saint Joseph's, beating its longtime rival 61-59 in another city series thriller. Saint Joseph's plays at La Salle on Saturday. Temple plays at Duquesne on Sunday.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sam Young's college basketball career is dwindling down to a few precious games. The senior wants most of all to make it in March, when Pitt has repeatedly failed despite
being a Top 25 fixture for eight seasons.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza, and Daniel Alfreddson each had a goal and assist, to help the Ottawa Senators win their third straight game, 5-2 over Philadelphia. Darroll Powe and Mike Richards scored for the Flyers, who host the Islanders on Saturday.

NEW YORK (AP) - Saying he was "young" and "stupid" and "naive," New York Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez is admitting to using steroids from 2001 to 2003 while he was with the Texas Rangers. A-Rod says he quit using steroids after 2003, his first of three AL MVP seasons.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Tom Hicks, the Texas owner who first made Alex Rodriguez baseball's highest-paid player, says he feels "personally betrayed" after the slugger's admission that he used performance-enhancing drugs while with the Rangers. Hicks says he feels "very sorry and deeply regretful" and was caught surprise by A-Rod's admission.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barrack Obama weighed in on A-Rod by saying it was "depressing news" and that it "tarnishes an entire era to a certain decree" in baseball. The president added he hoped it sends a message to young people that if you take shortcuts in
any endeavor, it threatens your integrity and your entire career.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have no knowledge that Ben Roethlisberger played the Super Bowl with two broken ribs, as the quarterback told a Web site. According to
SI.com, Roethlisberger said his fractured ribs did not show up on X-rays taken before he led the Steelers to a 27-23 win over Arizona on Feb. 1, but were revealed during an MRI test last week.

UNDATED (AP) - Troubled cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is looking for a team again. The Dallas Cowboys cut Jones, who didn't endear himself to the team after he was suspended for six games by the NFL after an alcohol-related scuffle in October with a team-provided bodyguard at a Dallas hotel.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The University of South Florida is celebrating its basketball team's first-ever victory over a team ranked in the AP Top-10. The Bulls nipped eighth-ranked South
Florida 57-56 last night behind 22 points from Jesus Verdejo.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Hornets were raining in 3-pointers, tying a franchise record with 15 treys in their 101-92 win over Toronto that ended their four-game losing streak. Peja Stojakovic made seven 3's and scored a season-high 28 points.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs continue the trend toward younger head coaches in the NFL by hiring Todd Haley, who is just weeks shy of his 42nd birthday. Haley, the former offensive coordinator of the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals, replaces Herm Edwards, who was fired after the Chiefs' 2-and-14 season.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Camilo Villegas is the 36-hole leader at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines after his second-round 70. John Rollins is one shot back with Charley Hoffman four off the lead.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Blues waived Manny Legace in a move that gives other teams the opportunity to claim the 36-year-old goalie. Last season, Legace went to the All-Star game with a 2.41 goals-against average.
