MIAMI (AP) - After 30 straight innings without a run, the Phillies scored last night in the fourth inning against the Marlins. The Phillies had gone scoreless in 49 of their previous 50 innings, plus hadn't managed a run against an opponent's starter in a week. It also ensured the Phillies wouldn't become the first team since 1992 to be shut out in four straight games. Ryan Howard had two hits and scored Philadelphia's first run in 31 innings on a triple by Raul Ibanez, Chase Utley drove in the go-ahead run and the Phillies snapped out of a slump to beat the Florida Marlins 3-2. The Phillies had been shut out in each of their last three games and in four of five overall.

Atlanta 7, Pittsburgh 3

ATLANTA (AP) - David Ross and Chipper Jones each drove in three runs, Derek Lowe remained undefeated in his career against Pittsburgh and the surging Atlanta Braves beat the Pirates 7-3. The Braves had 13 hits, including three by Ross, while improving to 8-2 in their last 10 games. Pittsburgh right-hander Charlie Morton has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder fatigue. Reliever Steven Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to
fill Morton's roster spot before last night's game at Atlanta. The Pirates have not named a replacement for Morton in their rotation.

GAME SUSPENDED IN THE THIRD INNING, WILL BE RESUMED TODAY

NEW YORK (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger has been cleared by the NFL to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers beginning next week. But no decision has been made on the length of his suspension over sexual assault allegations. Roethlisberger has undergone a behavioral evaluation as part of the suspension, which could be reduced to four games. The case will be reviewed before the regular season.

NEW YORK (AP) - It was another scoreless night for the Phillies. Last night's 3-0 loss to New York was the third shutout in a row for the Philadelphia. It's the first time since 1983 that the Phils have been blanked three days in a row. The Mets' three-game sweep of gives them five straight wins.

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Reds have their best record since 2006 after beating the Pirates 8-2 last night. Scott Rolen's three-run homer started an early splurge off Pirates righty Charlie Morton. Cincinnati batted around in each of the first two innings for seven runs off Morton, who's now 1-9 on the year.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Pirates third baseman Andy LaRoche was back in the lineup last night after missing five games with a sore back. LaRoche had a throwing error that prolonged the second inning of the 8-2 loss to Cincinnati.

CHICAGO (AP) - Flyers Chris Pronger and Marian Hossa can't stay away from the Stanley Cup finals. Pronger is back in the finals for the third time in five years with his third team, the
Philadelphia Flyers. Hossa's trek is even more rare. He'll be playing in his third straight championship with a different team. Game 1 is tomorrow in Chicago.

HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) - Penn State coach Joe Paterno bowed out last night a few hours before a scheduled appearance at a university alumni event in Hershey because of a lingering flu bug. The 83-year-old Paterno has had an intestinal ailment that kept him from attending a similar reception in Pittsburgh two weeks ago as well as Big Ten meetings in Chicago last week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ron Artest made a buzzer-beater to give the Los Angeles Lakers a 103-101 win over Phoenix and a 3-2 series lead in the NBA Western Conference finals. Artest had just four points on two-of-nine shooting, but his rebound of a Kobe Bryant air ball moved the defending NBA champion Lakers within one game of going to the NBA Finals for the third straight year.

BOSTON (AP) - The NBA rescinded one of the technical fouls against Boston center Kendrick Perkins, which means he will be eligible to play in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals Friday night against Orlando. The Celtics won the first three games of this series, but have dropped the last two.

NEW YORK (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger has been cleared by the NFL to return for three days of organized team activities by the Pittsburgh Steelers beginning next week, although no decision has been made on the length of his suspension. The QB was suspended without pay for six games last month by commissioner Roger Goodell after a 20-year-old college student
accused him of sexual assault in Georgia.

PARKER, Colo. (AP) - Two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer and Robin Freeman shot a 6-under 66 and share the first-round lead at the 71st PGA Senior Championship at Colorado
Golf Club. Tom Lehman and Brad Bryant are two shots back.

NEW YORK (AP) - The Mets came up with another shutout over the Phillies last night. Hisanori Takahashi threw six scoreless innings in a 5-0 win in New York. It's the first time the Phillies have been shut out in consecutive games since 2008.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Reds starter Bronson Arroyo went seven-plus and got his fifth straight win as the Reds shut out the Pirates 4-0 yesterday. Miguel Cairo had a solo homer off the Pirates' Ross Ohlendorf, who was in trouble most of his six innings. Orlando Cabrera drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a single for Cincinnati.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Flyers goalie Brian Boucher has returned to practice after suffering a knee injury and hopes he can back up Michael Leighton in the Stanley Cup finals. Boucher was
Philadelphia's postseason starter until he sprained a ligament in his left knee in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Leighton led the Flyers to three shutouts in the East finals after
taking over for Boucher.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Mike Wallace is on the fast track to replacing Santonio Holmes as the Steelers' primary deep passing threat. Wallace is convinced the transition will take less time than might be expected, given he's replacing a former first-round draft pick who caught 79 passes last season and had a combined 18 touchdown receptions the last three seasons.

OAKMONT, Pa. (AP) - LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis has played a round of golf with ex-boyfriend Ben Roethlisberger and calls the troubled Steelers quarterback "a great guy." Gulbis played golf

DE PERE, Wis. (AP) - Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue thinks the Big East Conference is being proactive about its future and sees cable giant ESPN as the key player in any long-term
decisions the 16-member conference will make. Tagliabue has been named a special adviser to the conference and is a part of Georgetown University's board of directors.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) - Penn State has set kickoff times for its first two home games of the year. Both the matchup with Youngstown State on September 4th and Kent State two weeks later will kick off at noon. The Youngstown State game will air on the Big Ten Network. The Kent State matchup will be shown on ESPN or ESPN 2.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Dwight Howard had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Orlando Magic to a 113-92 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. The Magic have won two straight with the Celtics taking a slim 3-2 lead into a pressure-packed Game 6 in Boston on Friday night.

DENVER (AP) - Ubaldo Jimenez tossed eight shutout innings, Seth Smith homered twice and the Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3. Jimenez won his major league-leading ninth game, extended his current scoreless streak to 16 and a-third innings and dropped his ERA to 0.88, the best in baseball.

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) - Midfielders Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley, and defender Steve Cherundolo earned their third World Cup trips as they were named to the U.S. World Cup team that competes in South Africa next month. Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez also made the 23-man roster, coming from obscurity a few months ago to earn trips to the World Cup.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A former Oklahoma State assistant basketball coach who sued Minnesota coach Tubby Smith over an aborted hiring was awarded nearly $1.25 million by a jury in Minneapolis. The jury found that Smith falsely represented that he had the authority to
hire Jimmy Williams when he called Williams in 2007 to talk about an assistant coach position in Minnesota, which Williams never got after he quit his $200,000-a-year post at Oklahoma State.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Ryan Doumit hit a solo homer with two outs in the top of the ninth inning gave the Pirates a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds last night. Octavio Dotel pitched the ninth for his 10th save in 12 tries - he's 7 for 7 in May.

NEW YORK (AP) - The Phillies' slide has continued with an 8-0 rout at the hands of the Mets. Jason Bay and Jeff Francoeur each drove in a pair of runs in the opener of a three-game series
between the NL East rivals in New York. Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey got his first major league win since April of last year.

IRVING, Texas (AP) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says he expects to decide within a week when Ben Roethlisberger can rejoin the Pittsburgh Steelers for offseason workouts. Goodell says he will soon review the behavioral evaluation he ordered as part of his six-game suspension of the Steelers quarterback under the league's conduct policy.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The attorney for a Pittsburgh suburb says it will be "months as opposed to weeks" before he recommends whether a police officer should be disciplined for being with Ben Roethlisberger the night he was accused of sexual assault. Officials are investigating the role, if any, of Coraopolis officer Anthony Barravecchio in the alleged incident.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The competition to temporarily replace Ben Roethlisberger as the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback is becoming a one-man race. Byron Leftwich is handling nearly all of the first-team snaps in practice, a strong indicator he will be the starter while Roethlisberger serves his six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has agreed to replace his quarterback in putting on a three-day youth football camp that will be held next month at a suburban Pittsburgh high school. The formerly named for Roethlisberger is now being called the Coach Tomlin Football Camp. It will be held June 21st to 23rd at Mars Area High School.

added eight points and eight assists to help the Phoenix reserves outscore the Laker subs 54-20. Kobe Bryant's 38 points were not enough for the Lakers, who host Game 5 tomorrow
night.

IRVING, Texas (AP) - The New York Giants and Jets will co-host the first outdoor Super Bowl to be played in a cold-weather location. NFL owners have awarded Super Bowl 48 to the Meadowlands in a game that will be played February 2, 2014. EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The U.S. lost to the Czech Republic 4-2 last night in a World Cup tuneup for the Americans. Herculez Gomez tied the game 2-2 for the U.S. in the 65th minute before the Czechs went ahead 13 minutes later. PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Flyers will play for the Stanley Cup for the first time in more than a decade. Philadelphia punched its ticket to the finals with a 4-2 series-clinching win over the
Montreal Canadiens. The Flyers needed a shootout win in the final game of the regular season just to get in the playoffs, now they'll play the Blackhawks for the ultimate prize. Game 1 is Saturday in Chicago.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia fans flooded streets of the city following the Flyers' 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens that sends them to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in 13 years. A huge crowd of fans, many clad in the team's orange and black, gathered in the Mayfair section of northeast Philadelphia after last night's win in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Reds used a five-run fourth inning to take down the Pirates in Pittsburgh last night. Pirates left-hander Brian Burres walked the first two batters in the fourth to start the pivotal Reds rally.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies have activated catcher Brian Schneider off the 15-day disabled list. Schneider went on the DL May 9th with a left Achilles' strain. He went 0 for

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh police are trying to reconcile two stories given by three men arrested for trespassing at Heinz Field over the weekend. Police say the out-of-state men told them they sneaked into the Pittsburgh Steelers' home stadium Sunday morning because one of them had lost a wallet. But one of them tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review they sneaked in to take pictures. They're due in court on Thursday.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police in Philadelphia are trying to question a city resident in connection with vandalism done to a car of a Montreal sportswriter outside the Wachovia Center during Game 1 of the Flyers-Canadiens series. MONTREAL (AP) - Flyers agitator Daniel Carcillo won't soon
forget how Canadiens star forward Michael Cammalleri stuck his

Carcillo said the last person who stuck his tongue out at him was
"probably a girl - a pretty one, too."

HOUSTON (AP) - Ubaldo Jimenez (oo-BAHL'-doh hih-MEHN'-ehz)
allowed one hit over seven innings and became baseball's first

Astros 4-0. Jimenez improved his major league-low ERA to 0.99 and
combined with Matt Belisle and Manny Corpas on the three-hitter.

BOSTON (AP) - Kevin Youkilis hit a three-run homer and added an
RBI double to help Jon Lester earn his fourth straight victory and
lead the Boston Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over Minnesota. Twins
starter Francisco Liriano, who won his first four decisions to
start the season, has now lost three straight starts.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to terms with
TV analyst Doug Collins to become their new coach and a formal
announcement is expected today. One person familiar with the deal
said Collins agreed to a four-year contract.

MONTREAL (AP) - After just over 172 minutes of shutout hockey in
the playoffs, Philadelphia Flyers goalie Michael Leighton
(LAY'-tuhn) showed he was human after all. The Montreal Canadiens

Conference final heading into tomorrow afternoon's Game 4 in
Montreal.

MINERSVILLE 1

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Raul Ibanez hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run homer and Chase Utley also went deep for the NL East-leading Phillies.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Phillies' reserve catcher, Brian Schneider, will be in Allentown this weekend for a rehabilitation assignment with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Schneider has been on the disabled list since May 9th with a strained left Achilles tendon.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — George Kottaras, playing only because of an injury, doubled in a run and the Milwaukee Brewers rallied from a three-run deficit to end a nine-game losing streak, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3. Carlos Villanueva hit pinch-hitter Ryan Doumit in the back with a pitch with one out, only to get Delwyn Young to ground into a game-ending double play.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pirates placed left-hander Jack Taschner on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, a move that allowed them to activate Brendan Donnelly for last night's game against Milwaukee.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Plate umpire John Hirschbeck left the Brewers-Pirates game with concussion-like symptoms after being struck by an errant warmup pitch. Brewers catcher Gregg Zaun was slow to react to a pitch that sailed high, and it struck Hirschbeck in the mask before the Pirates batted in the first inning.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Trevor Hoffman is ready to pitch again for the Brewers following an extensive bullpen throwing session aimed at straightening out the struggling closer's delivery. Even if his next appearance isn't in a save situation, the majors' career leader with 596 saves won't be unhappy. What he wants is to be able to pitch effectively again.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers were down to a three-man bench for their game in Pittsburgh after outfielder Jody Gerut left the team to be with his wife, who is expecting a baby. The Brewers are uncertain when Gerut will rejoin the team.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to terms with TNT analyst Doug Collins to become their new coach. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made public.

MONTREAL (AP) — Michael Cammalleri scored in the first period to end Montreal's two-game drought, leading the Canadiens to a 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final. Tom Pyatt and Dominic Moore had a goal and assist apiece for Montreal.

LONG POND, Pa. (AP) — Construction has begun on a three-megawatt solar farm at Pocono Raceway in northeastern Pennsylvania. The Escondido, California-based energy company enXco says it will design and build the project and then turn it over to the raceway.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes says a flight attendant might have singled him out last month because he was a former Pittsburgh Steelers player. Holmes says he felt he was scrutinized just for who he is. A flight attendant claimed Holmes failed to follow regulations by not turning off his iPod as the plane was landing.

UNDATED (AP) — Lance Armstrong has denied allegations made by disgraced American cyclist Floyd Landis, who has admitted to systematic use of performance-enhancing drugs and also accused the seven-time Tour de France champion of doping. Armstrong says quote "it's our word against his word. I like our word."

SYDNEY (AP) — Second baseman Bradley Harman, who briefly played with Philadelphia Phillies, has been banned for 14 months by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority. ASADA says Harman violated anti-doping rules for failing to inform drug-testing officials of his location.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia's new soccer franchise says it has sold out its season-ticket allotment for its new stadium in Chester. The Union will play their first game at PPL Park on June 27th against Seattle. The team says it sold 12,000 season tickets for the 18,500 seat stadium. Single game seats go on sale June 7th.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The Boston Celtics have a two-games-to-none
lead in the NBA's Eastern Conference finals following a 95-92 win
at Orlando. Paul Pierce finished with 28 points and Rajon Rondo
(RAH'-zhahn RAHN'-doh) added 25 while the two helped the Celtics

a 90-89 lead late in the contest.

SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) - The Washington Wizards and Philadelphia
76ers were the big winners in last night's NBA draft lottery. The

winning the lottery. The Sixers jumped up to second, and New Jersey
dropped to third after posting the league's worst record at
12-and-70.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Michael Leighton turned back 30 shots in his
second consecutive shutout as the Philadelphia Flyers blanked
Montreal 3-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

provided power-play goals to support Leighton, who hasn't allowed a
goal in almost 166 minutes. Jaroslav Halak (hah-LAHK') stopped 20
shots for the Canadiens, who host Game 3 tomorrow night.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Dustin Byfuglien (BUF'-lihn) and
Jonathan Toews (tayvz) tallied on deflections 90 seconds apart in
the second period, the difference in the Chicago Blackhawks' 4-2
win at San Jose. Andrew Ladd and Troy Brouwer also scored as the
Blackhawks took a two-games-to-none lead in the NHL's Western
Conference finals. Chicago has won a record-tying seven consecutive
road playoff games.

the disabled list because of a broken pinkie. Los Angeles Dodgers
outfielder Andre Ethier (EE'-thee-ur) was injured while taking a

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Kyle Kendrick threw eight impressive innings
and the Phillies offense rocked its way to a dozen runs in a 12-2
win over Pittsburgh last night. Kendrick allowed two runs and five
hits, striking out four. Ryan Howard hit a grand slam and had six
RBIs for the Phils while Jayson Werth had a three-run homer.
Pirates starter Charlie Morton gave up six runs on six hits in four
innings.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jimmy Rollins returned to the Phillies'
lineup with two hits and an RBI last night after missing 29 games
with a calf injury. The three-time All-Star shortstop and 2007 NL
MVP batted in the Number 3 spot in the batting order. Rollins
wasn't in his usual leadoff spot because Chase Utley, who normally
bats third, was sent home with flulike symptoms.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - To make room for Jimmy Rollins on the
roster, the Phillies have designated infielder Wilson Valdez for
assignment. Valdez was hitting .231 in several games as an infield
replacement.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Phillies reliever Brad Lidge has received a
cortisone shot in his surgically repaired right elbow and is
expected to begin a throwing program in the next several days. The
closer began the year on the disabled list following offseason
surgery on his pitching elbow.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Canadiens remain confident about goalie
Jaroslav Halak, even after he allowed four goals to the Flyers on
14 shots before being pulled from the net in Game 1 of the Eastern
Conference finals on Sunday night. Halak was also pulled after
giving up five goals in a 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh in Game 1 of the
second round. He went on to dominate the rest of the series.

CHICAGO (AP) - Potential expansion is the hot topic at this
week's Big Ten meetings in Chicago. The Big Ten is deciding whether
expand from its current 11 members to extend the reach of its
lucrative TV network and add a championship football game. Pitt has
been mentioned as a possible target to join the league.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pitt women's basketball coach Agnus Berenato
has rounded out his staff with the hiring of assistant Khadija
Head. Head comes to Pittsburgh from Middle Tennessee State, where
she served three years as an assistant.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Flyers' surge through the Stanley Cup
playoffs continued with a 6-0 pasting of Montreal in Philadelphia
last night. The win came just two days after the Flyers knocked off
the Bruins with a 4-3 victory in Game 7 of the semifinals. The
Flyers have won five straight overall and are 5-1 in the playoffs
in front of its orange-clad crowd. Game 2 is tomorrow.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Four goals on just 13 shots forced Montreal
to pull star goalie Jaroslav Halak early in the second period last
night. Halak was the biggest factor in the Canadiens' upset wins in
the first two rounds against top-seeded Washington and defending
Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh. He was replaced by Carey Price.

CHICAGO (AP) - Pinch-hitter Xavier Nady lined a go-ahead single
in the eighth inning as the Cubs rallied to defeat the Pirates 4-3
yesterday. The win was Chicago's first against Pittsburgh after
seven straight losses. The Bucs had a 3-1 lead in the seventh, but
couldn't hold it.

CHICAGO (AP) - Pirates first baseman Steve Pearce was back in
the lineup yesterday two days after hurting his knee. Pearce looked
solid by going 1 for 3, drawing a walk and making two nice
defensive plays.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Phillies are heading home after a
three-game sweep in Milwaukee capped by last night's 4-2 win.
Starter Cole Hamels pitched into the seventh inning despite giving
up back-to-back home runs to Casey McGehee and Corey Hart in the
sixth. He helped himself on offense as well, delivering an RBI
double in the second.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins should be back
in the lineup today. MLB.com reports Rollins flew back to
Philadelphia from Florida yesterday after a stint in Clearwater
rehabbing a strained calf. A team official says Rollins will be
evaluated today. If all goes well, he'll be activated before
tonight's game against the Pirates.

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) - Many members of the U.S. World Cup team
have headed to Philadelphia to take physicals ahead of the start of
workouts tomorrow in Princeton, New Jersey. Midfielder Alejandro
Bedoya is playing a match with his Swedish club team today before
reporting to training camp.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia's Danny Mwanga scored an
unassisted goal just as time was about to expire Saturday to help
the Union salvage a 1-1 tie against FC Dallas. Philadelphia had
plenty of scoring opportunities, especially in the first half, but
couldn't convert on nine shots on goal. The Union had lost four
straight after beating D.C. United last month.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins won't be repeating as
Stanley Cup champions. The Pens' season is over following last
night's Game 7 loss to the eighth-seeded Montreal Canadiens. The
Habs built a stunning four-goal lead before winning 5-2.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Game 7 loss to the Canadiens means last
night's game was the final one at Pittsburgh's 49-year-old Mellon
Arena. Many fans remained to watch a video tribute to the nation's
first and only retractable roof indoor arena after last night's
loss. The arena is expected to be torn down sometime after the
Penguins move across the street into Consol Energy Center this
fall.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Flyers have forced a most improbable
Game 7 in their Eastern Conference semifinals with the Boston
Bruins. With last night's 2-1 win, the Flyers have evened a series
in which they once faced a 3-0 deficit. Only two teams have ever
won four straight after being down 3-0 to win a series. Game 7 is
in Boston tomorrow.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pirates couldn't score a run for the
second straight game as the Reds completed a three game sweep in
Pittsburgh with a 5-0 win. Reds pitcher Homer Bailey got his first
win of the season and the first complete game of his career. The
Pirates only managed one run and 10 hits in the series.

DENVER (AP) - Phillies starter Roy Hallady couldn't get a win in
his return to his native Colorado. The Phillies lost 4-3 in 10
innings to the Rockies in what was supposed to be the opener of a
day-night doubleheader in Denver. Hallady took a 3-1 lead into the
seventh, but Brad Hawpe tied the game with a two-run triple.

DENVER (AP) - The planned nightcap of a day-night doubleheader
for the Phillies and Rockies was called off due to snow and rain.
No make up date has been announced.

DENVER (AP) - Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz is listed as
day-to-day after hurting his right knee while running out a ground
ball in Game 1 of yesterday's doubleheader. Meanwhile, Phillies
closer Brad Lidge has returned to Philadelphia to have his
surgically repaired right elbow examined by the team's doctor.

DENVER (AP) - The Phillies insist they weren't trying to steal
signs when bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was caught on camera
peering through binoculars from the bullpen bench at Coors Field
earlier this week. Manager Charlie Manuel tells The Associated
Press that Billmeyer was simply watching Philadelphia catcher
Carlos Ruiz set up defensively Monday night.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association
says the state police haven't shown "any justification" for
rescinding a trooper's permission to work as Pittsburgh Steelers
quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's assistant. The state police say
Trooper Ed Joyner won't be allowed to work for Roethlisberger while
his union grievance is pending.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (AP) - Ex-Eagles player and current New
Jersey congressional candidate Jon Runyan has made the pre-emptive
move of revealing some skeletons in his closet. Runyan says he was
late on some property tax payments and has been sued in a couple of
business deals. Runyan is running as a Republican to represent New
Jersey's 3rd Congressional District.

REDS-PIRATES
Cueto's 1-hitter for Reds beats Pirates, 9-0

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Johnny Cueto pitched a one-hitter for his first major league complete game, allowing only a third-inning single that went off shortstop Paul Janish's glove, and the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-0 on Tuesday night for their fourth consecutive win. The Pirates' only hit was by Ronny Cedeno - and it nearly wasn't one. Janish managed to deflect Cedeno's one-out grounder into left field, barely missing making the play. Chris Heisey backed up Cueto's superbly pitched game with his first three major league hits, including a pair of singles and a two-run homer in the eighth against Jeff Karstens. Heisey, making his second career start, was hitless in his first seven at-bats.

PHILLIES-ROCKIES PPD
Phillies-Rockies game rained out

DENVER (AP) - Even with a cold, steady rain drenching Coors Field and puddles overtaking the tarp, the last thing the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies wanted was a night off.
Now they're scheduled for a day-night doubleheader Wednesday --when the forecast calls for snow -- to make up for Tuesday's rainout. The pitching matchups will remain the same with Phillies ace Roy Halladay (6-1) making his first start in his native Colorado since high school in the 1:10 p.m. MDT opener. He'll face Rockies right-hander Aaron Cook (1-3). In the 6:40 p.m. MDT nightcap, it'll be Jamie Moyer (4-2) for Philadelphia facing Jason Hammel (0-2), who will be activated from the 15-day disabled list. Hammel landed on the DL with a strained right groin last month, stemming from a mechanical flaw in his delivery.

PHILLIES-BLUE JAYS RELOCATED
Phillies-Blue Jays series moves to Philadelphia

NEW YORK (AP) - Global politics has upstaged baseball in Toronto. Baseball commissioner Bud Selig announced Tuesday that the Phillies-Blue Jays series will be played in Philadelphia because of the G20 Summit. The three-game series June 25-27 will be relocated from
Toronto's Rogers Centre to Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park because of security issues for the G20 Summit. World leaders will gather at the convention center next to the Toronto ballpark.
The game would have been ace Roy Halladay's first return visit after he was traded to the Phillies in the offseason. The rescheduled games will be considered home games of the Blue
Jays, who will bat last, and the DH will be used.

STEELERS-ROETHLISBERGER
Steelers uncertain when Roethlisberger will return

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers resume voluntary offseason workouts next week, but it's unclear whether suspended quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be allowed to participate. On April 21, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended the two-time Super Bowl winner for the first six games of the season and also ordered him to undergo a behavioral evaluation following a March incident in which a 20-year-old college student accused him
of sexual assault in Milledgeville, Ga. The case will not be prosecuted. The Steelers are not certain when Roethlisberger might be cleared by Goodell to resume workouts. Voluntary practices are scheduled for May 18-20, May 25-27, June 1-3 and June 8-10.

ROETHLISBERGER-PITTSBURGH
Roethlisberger: Can't cut him, can't stand him

PITTSBURGH (AP) - For all of his off-field problems, Ben Roethlisberger is still a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Numerous fans in a proud city where the quarterback's number 7
jerseys could be seen everywhere would like to know why. They've ripped "Big Ben" bumper stickers off their cars, tossed out their expensive replica jerseys and distanced themselves from one of the franchise's most successful players. The reason why the Steelers have kept him despite his six-game suspension following a sexual assault allegation in Georgia is simple: They have too much invested in him to let go. They've paid Roethlisberger about $50 million in salary and bonuses the past three seasons, and an aging team with a defense that may be on the downslide would have little chance to win the Super Bowl without him. Also, he wasn't charged in Georgia. Still, some fans wish he'd simply go away.

STEELERS-SWEED
Steelers' Sweed out for the season

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers wide receiver Limas Sweed has been placed on the injured reserve list because of a torn left Achilles tendon, a move that means he cannot play this season.
Sweed was waived after he was hurt during a May 2 minicamp practice. He was placed on the reserve/injury list after clearing waivers. Sweed, a second-round draft pick from Texas in 2008, missed the final two games of last season for personal reasons. He finished the season with one catch. To replace Sweed, the Steelers signed wide receiver Isaiah Williams, who signed with Baltimore as an undrafted rookie last year but was cut before the season began.

CANADIENS-PENGUINS
Game 7, again: Canadiens take Pens to last game

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Penguins' record in home Game 7s isn't very good. The Canadiens' Game 7 record this spring couldn't be any better. For the second successive playoff series, the Canadiens have forced a Game 7. After upsetting NHL regular season champion Washington in the first round, the Canadiens will play another against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Penguins in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. The Penguins are 2-4 in Game 7s at Mellon Arena, beating only the Washington Capitals twice. Pittsburgh did win two Game 7s on the road last spring, defeating Washington and Detroit. Montreal forced the Game 7 by getting two more goals from Mike Cammalleri in a 4-3 victory Monday night. Cammalleri has outscored Penguins star Sidney Crosby 6-1 in the series.

BRUINS-FLYERS
Flyers believe they can win series vs. Boston

VOORHEES, N.J. (AP) - The Flyers believe they can complete their comeback from a 3-0 deficit and eliminate the Bruins. The Flyers have won two straight games entering Wednesday's Game
6 and say momentum has shifted toward their side. The 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs and the 1975 New York Islanders are the only NHL teams to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a
best-of-seven playoff series. In the net for the Flyers will be Michael Leighton, who stepped
in for Brian Boucher. Boucher was injured in Philadelphia's 4-0 Game 5 win. The Flyers say Boucher has a sprained MCL in his left knee and could miss up to a month.

BIG TEN EXPANSION
Big Ten quashes latest expansion rumors

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany e-mailed conference officials Tuesday to stamp out a rumor that four schools had already been offered a chance to join the league. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said Tuesday that Delany had quashed a report the Big Ten had offered expansion spots to Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Rutgers. The Big Ten holds annual meetings next week in Chicago involving athletic officials, faculty representatives and football and men's and women's basketball coaches. But Smith said the meetings were routine and nothing would be decided about expansion. The conference is looking at expanding from its current 11 members so it can increase the reach of its cable network and hold a league championship title game.

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Boston Celtics are one victory away from reaching the NBA's Eastern Conference finals. The Celtics held league MVP LeBron James to 15 points on 3-of-14 shooting and routed the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-88 to take a 3-2 series lead heading into Game 6 Thursday in Boston.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - The Chicago Blackhawks are going to NHL's Western Conference finals for the second straight year. Troy Brouwer and Kris Versteeg scored 36 seconds apart early in the second period and the Blackhawks eliminated the Vancouver
Canucks 5-1 in Game 6 and will play the San Jose Sharks, the West's top-seeded team, with a trip to the Stanley Cup finals on the line.

MONTREAL (AP) - The Canadiens have forced a deciding Game 7 in
the Eastern Conference semifinals after a 4-3 win over the
Penguins. Michael Cammalleri and Jarolslav Spacek netted a pair of
goals about 2:30 apart in the second period to give the Habs a 4-2
lead in Montreal. They went on to win 4-3. Game 7 is tomorrow in
Pittsburgh.

BOSTON (AP) - Michael Leighton came off the bench for injured
Flyers goalie Brian Boucher (boo-SHAY') and made 14 saves to
complete a 4-0 shutout of the Bruins in Boston. The win means the
series will return to Philadelphia for Game 6 tomorrow. The Bruins
hold a 3-2 edge in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Boucher hurt
his knee at the bottom of a pileup in the second period.

DENVER (AP) - Hot-hitting catcher Carlos Ruiz had four hits to
power the Phillies past the Rockies 9-5 in Colorado. Ruiz had a
sixth inning homer and a tiebreaking single in the ninth that
scored Ryan Howard from second. Pinch-hitter Ross Gload then
knocked out a three-run homer to finish off the Rockies. Danys Baez
gets the win for Philadelphia.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Reds' Bronson Arroyo shut down the Pirates
by giving up just a run over seven-plus innings in a 2-1 win over
the Bucs in Pittsburgh. Scott Rolen and Laynce Nix provided the
offense for Cincinnati by doubling in runs. Pirates right-hander
Ross Ohlendorf pitched four innings in his second start of the
season.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated
right-handed reliever Brian Bass for assignment. Bass had a 12.79
ERA after allowing nine earned runs in 6-plus innings. The move
makes room for starter Ross Ohlendorf, who returned from the
disabled list yesterday.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Former Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell has
met with the 76ers about the team's head coaching vacancy. Mitchell
talked with team officials over the weekend, as did former Pistons
star and current Timberwolves assistant Bill Laimbeer.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (AP) - Tiger Woods says there's "no
connection" between the neck pain that forced him to withdraw from
The Players Championship and his car accident last November. Woods
says he feels pain in the right side of his neck and fears it may
be the result of a bulging disk. The comments came during a news
conference in suburban Philadelphia to promote July's AT&T National
tournament.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Phillies got home runs from Placido
Polanco, Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino in a 5-3 rubber match win
over the Braves. The Phils survived a rough start from Cole Hamels
and got some big help from their bullpen on a chilly day in
Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Phillies catcher Brian Schneider has been
placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left Achilles' strain.
Schneider started Saturday's 4-1 loss to Atlanta and strained his
Achilles during the game. Paul Hoover has been brought up from
Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take Schneider's spot.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Cardinals batted around twice during big
innings in an 11-4 rout over the Pirates. It's the Pirates 12th
loss of six runs or more this season. The Bucs have been an enigma
so far this year. They're 10-2 in games decided by two runs or
fewer, but they have been blown out in more than one-third of their
games.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pirates right-hander Jeff Karstens is heading
to the bullpen. Pirates manager John Russell says Karstens will
work as a reliever for now because the Bucs rotation is too
crowded. Left-hander Brian Burres will start Friday against Chicago
and right-hander Ross Ohlendor will come off the disabled list
tonight to start against the Reds.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pirates right-hander Chris Jakubauskas
(jak-uh-BOW'-skuhs) is making slow progress as he recovers from a
concussion he suffered when he was hit in the head by a line drive
on April 24th in Houston. Jakubauskas remains on the disabled list.
He felt dizzy after attempting to play a game of catch on Friday
and the team isn't rushing his recovery.

MONTREAL (AP) - The Penguins are looking to close out the
Canadiens on their home ice in tonight's Game 6 in Montreal. The
Pens hold a 3 games to 2 edge in the best-of-seven series. The
Penguins aren't taking the Habs lightly, though. Captain Sidney
Crosby says his team expects "desperation" from Montreal and says
Pittsburgh has to make sure it plays its "best game of the
series."

WILMINGTON, Mass. (AP) - The Flyers are fighting to stay alive
tonight in their playoff series with the Bruins. Philadelphia is
down 3 games to 1 after taking Game 4 Friday 5-4 in overtime. The
series has returned to Boston for Game 5.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The 76ers extensive coaching search has
continued with more interviews. Former Detroit player Bill Laimbeer
met with the 76ers on Sunday in Dallas. The team has also talked to
Avery Johnson and Doug Collins. The Sixers fired Eddie Jordan last
month after the team went 27-55 in his lone season
