BALTIMORE (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers third-string quarterback
Dennis Dixon was doing a fine job in his first NFL start until he
was forced to work overtime. An interception by rookie Paul Kruger
set up a 29-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff, giving the Baltimore
Ravens a 20-17 victory last night. Dixon started because Ben
Roethlisberger was sidelined with a concussion and backup Charlie
Batch had a broken left wrist.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - David Akers kicked a 32-yard field goal with
1:48 remaining and the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for a 27-24
victory over the Washington Redskins yesterday. The Eagles enjoyed
a rare fourth quarter comeback. This was the second straight
comeback victory for the Eagles .

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Michael Vick is ready to make his football
return to Atlanta. Vick will play his first game in Atlanta since
2006 when the Philadelphia Eagles visit this coming Sunday. Vick
says he's prepared for the scrutiny that will come this week when
he faces his former team for the first time.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Tim Duncan scored 22 points and the San
Antonio Spurs won their fifth straight with a 97-89 victory over
the Philadelphia 76ers last night. Sixers coach Eddie Jordan
acknowledged before the game that Allen Iverson has been discussed
as a possible addition to the team. But he emphasized that talks
have been just that and nothing more.

CHICAGO (AP) - A mass will be held in Chicago tomorrow for a
boxer who died after a match in Philadelphia. 25-year-old Francisco
Rodriguez died last week after losing a USBA super bantamweight
bout against Teon Kennedy. Officials say he began to lose
consciousness after the fight was stopped in the 10th round. He
later underwent emergency brain surgery.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS LOSS THIS PAST WEEKEND TO THE LOWLY KANSAS CITY CHIEFS SEEMS TO HAVE COME AS A SURPRISE TO THE STEELERS WHO WERE QUITE CONFIDENT GOING INTO THE GAME. PHILADELPHIA (AP) - For the second consecutive week, the Eagles will go with a different look at linebacker because of a knee injury to weakside starter Akeem Jordan. Coach Andy Reid ruled out Jordan for tomorrow night's game at Chicago.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - An Eagles team spokesman says running back Brian Westbrook has begun a rehabilitation program, though the team and his doctors aren't giving more details. Westbrook during Sunday's game in San Diego suffered his second concussion in three weeks.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers safety Troy Polamalu did not practice all week because of a left knee injury and will not play tomorrow in Kansas City. He may miss the Nov. 29 game at Baltimore as well.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Federal attorneys want a judge to declare that Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer Mel Blount owes more than $631,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties. The Internal Revenue Service filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh giving Blount 60 days to respond.

NASCAR

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) - Jimmie Johnson will go for his fourth straight Cup title from the pole. Johnson turned a lap of 173.919 mph to win the pole at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He qualified first Friday hours after it was announced he signed a contract extension to drive for Hendrick Motorsports through the 2015 season. Scott Speed was second. Marcos Ambrose was third. Mark Martin and Tony Stewart round out the top five. Johnson goes into Sunday's finale with a 108-point lead over Martin and needs only to finish 25th or better to win the title.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Lou Williams' layup with 3.1 seconds
remaining lifted the Philadelphia 76ers to a come-from-behind 86-84
victory over the Charlotte Bobcats last night. Andre Iguodala lead
the 76ers with 25 points, but it was Elton Brand's 19 points and 11
rebounds that helped seal the win for Philadelphia.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mika Pyorala scored his first NHL goal,
backup goalie Brian Boucher made 37 saves and the Philadelphia
Flyers opened a road trip with their seventh victory in eight
games, 3-2 over the Los Angeles Kings last night. Mike Richards and
James van Riemsdyk also scored and Braydon Coburn had two assists
for the Flyers.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Doctors say Philadelphia Eagles running back
Brian Westbrook has improved significantly over the last three days
following a second concussion in a three-week span. Westbrook was
evaluated yesterday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
with a battery of neuro-cognitive tests. So far the word is that he
had favorable results.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger felt out of sync all day in
the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense. Santonio Holmes apparently
didn't. Holmes disputes the quarterback's notion that the Steelers
had "something missing" during their 18-12 loss to Cincinnati
that moved the Bengals ahead of the Steelers in the AFC North race.

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) - Sidney Crosby lifted the Stanley Cup
in June, and now he is carrying the Olympic torch at home in Nova
Scotia. Hundreds of people lined a street in Halifax to watch the
captain of the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins with the
flame. Crosby ran about 300 yards before passing the torch to
snowboarder Sarah Conrad.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Eagles running back Brian Westbrook will
visit two concussion specialists in Pittsburgh today. Westbrook
sustained his second concussion in three weeks during
Philadelphia's 31-23 loss at San Diego on Sunday. The 30-year-old
former All-Pro suffered his first career concussion on Oct. 26
against Washington.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers star safety Troy Polamalu hasn't been
ruled out of Sunday's game at Kansas City despite injuring his left
knee for the second time this season, though coach Mike Tomlin says
he is questionable at best. Polamalu, a five-time Pro Bowl player,
missed four games earlier this season with a medial collateral
ligament tear.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Steelers have waived backup linebacker
Arnold Harrison, the first player to lose his job after three
kickoff return touchdowns were allowed by Pittsburgh's coverage
unit in the last four games. Coach Mike Tomlin says he is analyzing
all details of the repeated breakdowns and that more changes on
special teams will occur.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Grizzlies officially have
ended their relationship with Allen Iverson by waiving the 10-time
All-Star. The Grizzlies announced they had mutually agreed to end a
one-year contract with the former league MVP. Iverson began an
indefinite leave of absence on Nov. 7 to deal with a personal
issue.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State's Hall of Fame coach says
speculation about a lucrative Bowl Championship Series spot will be
moot if the No. 13 Nittany Lions' don't beat Michigan State this
weekend. Penn State is No. 14 in the BCS standings, right at the
cut-off point to qualify for an at-large berth.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - LaDainian Tomlinson scored twice to continue
his climb up the career rushing and scoring lists, and the San
Diego Chargers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 31-23 yesterday. Eagles
running back Brian Westbrook left the game with a concussion which
he sustained during the opening drive of the second half. This was
Westbrook's second concussion of the season. The Eagles are now
5-4.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittburgh Steelers were beaten by the
Cincinnati Bengals at their own game at home in Pittsburgh. The
Bengals did it by relying on a defense that smothered Ben
Roethlisberger and the Super Bowl champions by holding them to four
field goals and one big special teams play for an 18-12 victory
yesterday. Cincinnati also beat the Steelers back on Sept. 27.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia 76ers forward Marreese Speights
will miss six to eight weeks with a left knee injury. Speights was
injured in the fourth quarter of a 94-88 loss in Chicago. An MRI
yesterday revealed he has a partial tear of the medial collateral
ligament in his left knee. Speights has averaged 13 points and 6.4
rebounds in the first 10 games.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Reserve Tiffany Clarke scored 14 points
and No. 22 Vanderbilt rolled to a 90-54 victory over Lehigh
yesterday. Jence Rhoads recorded a career-high 10 assists for the
Commodores, who won the Southeastern Conference tournament
championship and reached the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament
last season.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State's bowl prospects are about
as cloudy as the future for its two top juniors. A Bowl
Championship Series berth is still a possibility after their 31-20
win over Indiana and losses by other potential BCS contenders such
as Southern California, Miami and Iowa. Wherever the Nittany Lions
end up, that game could be the last for linebacker Navorro Bowman
and tailback Evan Royster.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - THE PITTBURGH STEELERS WERE BEATEN BY THE
CINCINNATI BENGALS AT THEIR OWN GAME AT HOME IN PITTSBURGH. THE BENGALS DID IT BY RELYING ON A DEFENSE THAT SMOTHERED BEN
ROETHLISBERGER AND THE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS BY HOLDING THEM TO FOUR FIELD GOALS AND ONE BIG SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY FOR AN 18-12 VICTORY YESTERDAY. CINCINNATI ALSO BEAT THE STEELERS BACK ON SEPT. 27.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - PHILADELPHIA 76ERS FORWARD MARREESE SPEIGHTS (SPITES) WILL MISS SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS WITH A LEFT KNEE INJURY. SPEIGHTS WAS INJURED IN THE FOURTH QUARTER OF A 94-88 LOSS IN CHICAGO. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers beat the New
Jersey Nets 82-79 last night, extending the Nets' franchise worst
start to 0-8. Thaddeus Young had 20 points to lead the 76ers. New
Jersey missed three shots that would have given it the lead in the
final minute and turned the ball over with less than 5 seconds to
play on an inbounds play.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The National Football League has suspended
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Joselio Hanson four games for
violating the league's ban on performance enhancing substances. He
will be eligible to return for Philadelphia's Dec. 13 game against
the New York Giants.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia Eagles cornerback and kick
returner Ellis Hobbs is done for the season with a neck injury
suffered in Sunday night's loss to Dallas. Hobbs was placed on
injured reserve yesterday and will require surgery. Eagles coach
Andy Reid says the surgery should allow Hobbs to play again.

NEW YORK (AP) - Shortstop Jimmy Rollins has won his third
consecutive National League Gold Glove and Philadelphia Phillies
teammate Shane Victorino has won for the second straight time in
the outfield. St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina and San Diego first
baseman Adrian Gonzalez also were second-time winners announced
yesterday.

NEW YORK (AP) - For the fourth straight year, the Toronto Maple
Leafs are the NHL's most valuable team, according to Forbes
magazine's annual survey. The Leafs are worth $470 million. The
original six franchises are in the top seven, with only
Philadelphia at No. 5 breaking that monopoly. Forbes says the
Flyers are worth $273 million.

BOSTON (AP) - Tim Thomas stopped 27 shots for his second shutout
of the season and Sidney Crosby was held without a point for the
fifth straight game as the Boston Bruins beat the Pittsburgh
Penguins 3-0 last night. Thomas recorded his 14th shutout - passing
Andy Moog for 10th on the Bruins' career list.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A federal appeals court is backing the judge
who ruled against the NFL and let quarterback Michael Vick keep
more than $16 million in roster bonuses from the Atlanta Falcons. A
Circuit Court of Appeals says Vick had already earned the bonuses
before his dogfighting conviction, so the money wasn't subject to
forfeiture.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Eagles- Chicago Bears
matchup Nov. 22 will remain the Sunday night game even though NBC
had the option of picking another contest. The NFL's flexible
scheduling policy goes into effect that week for the rest of the
season. But the league announced that NBC decided to stick with the
original matchup.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers coach Mike Tomlin isn't saying if the
team has any interest in Larry Johnson, the former Penn State
running back who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs. Johnson,
who would like to play in Pittsburgh, was cut Monday after being
suspended by Kansas City for the second time in a year.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - The big loss last weekend to Ohio
State magnified season-long concerns with special teams at No. 19
Penn State. Coach Joe Paterno says the team might spend a little
more time working on special teams this week as they prepare for
Saturday's final home game of the year, against Indiana.

NEW YORK (AP) - Tony Dungy says Michael Vick could potentially
wind up in Buffalo, which he says previously discussed signing the
quarterback. Dungy has served as an adviser to Vick since the Super
Bowl-winning coach retired from the Colts after last season. Dungy
confirmed that the Bills and Vick "talked originally" when Vick
was searching for a team.

DENVER (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers are in Denver tonight to
take on the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. James
"Deebo" Harrison and Elvis Dumervil, two of the NFL's premier

Entering the weekend, Dumervil led the AFC with 10 sacks and
Harrison, was right behind him with eight sacks.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Ben Gordon scored 23 points and Ben
Wallace added 16 rebounds, helping the Detroit Pistons beat the

21 offensive rebounds and added three blocks and three steals.
Andre Iguodala led Philadelphia with 24 points and the 76ers missed
their last 8 field-goal attempts.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies have declined
their $5.5 million 2010 option on third baseman Pedro Feliz. Feliz
hit .266 with 12 home runs and 82 RBIs for the National League
champion Phillies this season. He'll receive a $500,000 buyout.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. says he won't rule out bringing
back Feliz.

NEW YORK (AP) - One look from the dugout at the celebration on
the field was all the incentive the Philadelphia Phillies needed
for next year.
The defending champions fell two wins short in their bid to
become the first NL team in 33 years to win consecutive World
Series titles. Their quest ended with a 7-3 loss to the New York
Yankees in Game 6 on Wednesday night.
While the Yankees were soaking in champagne, the Phillies
already were looking ahead to 2010. Considering all their key
starters are under contract and most of their star players are 30
years old or younger, the future is bright. November baseball could
become a fixture in Philadelphia.
Chase Utley tied Reggie Jackson's record for homers in a Series
with five, and Cliff Lee earned two wins. But the Phillies couldn't
overcome poor performances by three players who played crucial
roles in helping them win the franchise's second championship in
2008.

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Yankees will try again to wrap up
their 27th World Series title when they host the Philadelphia
Phillies in Game 6 tonight. Andy Pettitte will start for the
Yankees on three days' rest against Pedro Martinez, who was the
losing pitcher in Game 2.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - There was a college basketball upset last
night in Syracuse, where Division II Lemoyne beat the Orange 82-79
in an exhibition game. Syracuse led 79-78 until Christopher Johnson
drained a three-pointer with 8.3 seconds left. Johnson had 22
points for Lemoyne.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Edgerrin James may have played his final
NFL game after being waived by the Seattle Seahawks yesterday.
James carried 46 times for 125 yards, averaging just 2.7 yards per
run after signing with the Seahawks in August.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Rays have traded
second baseman Akinori Iwamura (ah-kih-NOHR'-ee ih-wah-MOOR'-uh) to
the Pittsburgh Pirates for right-handed reliever Jesse Chavez.
Iwamura hit .290 with one homer and 22 RBIs in 69 games during the
final season of his three-year contract, missing 81 games with a
knee injury. Chavez led all major league rookies with 73
appearances in 2009, going 1-4 with a 4.01 ERA in 67 1-3 innings.

(deh-LAHN'-tay) West has been indicted in Maryland. He is charged
with two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of
carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, and one
count each of reckless driving and negligent driving. Police say
they found two loaded handguns on him and a loaded shotgun in a
guitar case strapped to his back on Sept. 17 during a traffic stop.
